Jiuzhaigou Valley

Jiuzhaigou Valley, known as a "fairyland on the earth", is a nature reserve and national park located in the central south part of the Jiuzhaigou County of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, China, being a tributary of the Baishuihe River on the Jialing River, which belongs to the Yangtze River system. It is so named because the scenic area consists of nine Tibetan villages. With an elevation of 2000-3100 m above sea level, the scenic area enjoys pleasant climate and beautiful colors all the year round, being one of the world's famous scenic areas with the best tourist environment.

 Jiuzhaigou Valley National Park combines with green lakes, over flying waterfalls, colorful forests and Snow Mountains as well as the custom and culture of the Tibetan and Qiang nationalities, characterized by its primitive and natural features. In the “Y”-shape valley organized by Shuzheng Valley, Rize Valley and Zezhawa Valley of the scenic area are distributed 114 green lakes, 47 springs, 17 waterfalls, 11 sections of turbulent streams, 5 karst shoals and 3 Tibetan villages. The scenic area has an area of 1,320 square kilometers including 30,000 hectares of primitive forest where exists 2,576 protospecies, including scores of state-protected animals and plants such as the giant panda, golden monkey and mono-leaf grass.

 Water is the soul of Jiuzhaigou Valley. As it is purely and fairly clear and rich in color, where goes the saying that no water is worth your attention after your visit to Jiuzhaigou. The water, the reflections on the lake, the stone mill, the Tibetan villages, the Buddhist streamers and the songs and dances of the Tibetan and Qiang people constitute the unique tourist culture of Jiuzhaigou.

Jiuzhaigou Valley was listed into the world Nature Heritage Catalog in 1992. Approved as a man-and-biosphere reserve in the world in 1997, evaluated as one of the first 5A state level sceneries in China in 2000, and awarded the certificate of Sustainable 21st Century Tourism in February, 2001. It is one of the excellent scenic spots in China, one of the 40 best scenic spots in the country, a provincial and prefecture civilized unit and the advanced unit in comprehensive management, and the head of the 3 tourist creams in Sichuan Province.
