Anren Old Town

Anren Old Town is just 41 km away from Chengdu city and 8 km from the county seat of Dayi. It is a national 4A level tourist site, a national key cultural relic protection unit, and a national youth education base.

The old town was originally founded in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). It is the hometown of a number of military and political generals during the Minguo period (Republic of China 1912-1949) such as the famous Anti-Japanese general Liuxiang. There are 3 ancient streets. Jianchuan Museum groups and 27 mansions were constructed in late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and early Republic of China, of which, Liushi Manor (Liu Family’s Manor) is considered as one of the country's best-preserved manors. The building makes a combination of Chinese style and Western style, the dignified, elegant and generous variety courtyard, creating the special architectural style of Anren, known as "Sichuan architectural culture boutique".

Getting there

Anren Old Town is in Dayi County, approximately 41km southwest of Chengdu. Buses depart to Anren every 40 minutes from Jinsha Station; buses to Dayi (RMB16) depart from the same station more frequently. From Dayi, passengers can take a public bus No. 11 (RMB3), shared minivan (RMB4.5 per person, makes stops along the way), taxi, or private car (RMB30 to 40) to Anren. The total journey lasts approximately 2 hours. The last Chengdu-bound bus departs at 6 p.m. from Anren Tourist Center and at 6:30 p.m. from the Dayi Bus Station. Alternatively, buses also depart for Anren from Chengdu's Shiyang Bus Station, Shuangliu Bus Station (RMB14), and Chongzhou Bus Station.
