Time of Departure

The best time for tour in Beijing is spring and autumn. The peak time is summer. If possible, you'd better keep away from traveling in summer. The open time of parks and tourist attractions are generally 9:00 to 17:00, and that of shopping malls are generally 9:30 to 21:00, which will be extended in summer. The office hours of companies and banks are 9:00 to 17:00. Some banks and shopping malls are open on Saturday and Sunday.

The voltage in Beijing is 220.

Currency and Fxchange

The currency of China is Renminbi, which is issued by the national bank China People's Bank. The unit of RMB is yuan, and the subsidiary currency is

Jiao and fen. The face values of yuan are 1 yuan, 2 yuan, 5 yuan, 10 yuan,

20 yuan, 50 yuan, and 100 yuan; the face values of jiao are 1 jiao, 2 jiao,

and 5 jiao; the face values of fen are 1 fen, 2 fen, and 5 fen. The short form of Renminbi is RMB.

In order to facilitate the foreign tourists and tourists from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, China Bank and other designated banks contain not only the service of traveller's check and foreign credit card-to-RMB exchange, but also the cash business of 22 foreign currencies as well as the new Taiwan currency exchange.

The credit cards which could be used in China currently are mainly as follows.

Post

The post office is open seven days a week. The telegraph, telephone, and telex business is round-the-clock business. The eighty-cent stamp is for the letter within the city; while the 120-cent stamp is for the letter to other

cities. There are mailboxes in hotels to send domestic and international letters, and there are post service stations in some hotels. The Worldwide

Express Mail Service was formed for twenty years, and EMS turned to be a brand and ranks high in the logistics service circle. A logistics service system covering the whole country and reaching the world was formed. What

you have to do is only to dial 11185, and EMS will help you finish the rest

work.

Telephone

In Beijing, there are direct line telephones in rooms of hotels. 10% service charge should be added in the four-star hotels and hotels with level below, while 15% service charge should be added in the five-star hotels. You could also dial the international phone paid by the receiver. The city code of Beijing is 010.

Medical First Aid

There are complete medical systems in Beijing, which mainly consist of basic

medical units and hospitals. There are also special hospitals of Chinese

medicine, dentistry, Orthopaedics, and tumours. The acupuncture and moxibustion clinic and fitness institutions could have auxiliary treatment of acupuncture and moxibustion, as well as massage.
