How to Get Longsheng

Longsheng is Is a multinational autonomous county under the administration of Guilin with beautiful Longji Rice Terraces and traditional ethnic villages. It is also the essence of the well-known Guilin scenery. This remote county has no airport and train station, to get there must be via Guilin. 

Getting there

◎By Plane

Longsheng doesn't have its own airport. The nearest airport from Longsheng is Guilin Liangjiang International Airport. Longsheng is about 88 kilometers away from Guilin. Visitors who want to reach Longsheng by air can firstly fly to Guilin Liangjiang International Airport, then you can take the airport bus (operates every 15 minutes) to the city centre and then hire a taxi or take public bus No 32 to Qintan Passenger Bus Station, where you can find long-distance buses to Longsheng (county).

◎By Train

Longsheng doesn't have its own railway station. The nearest railway station from Longsheng is Guilin Railway Station. Visitors who want to reach Longsheng by train can firstly go to Guilin Railway Station, where (the square in the front of the railway station) you can find the min-buses to Ping’an Village (one of the scenic point of the Longji Rice Terraces).

◎By Bus

In Guilin, two places have buses to Longsheng County or the Longji Rice Terraces Area. One is Qintan Passenger Bus Station, the other one is the square of Guilin Railway Station.

Note: Guilin Bus Station has no buses run to Longsheng at present when the Qintan Passenger Bus Station went into service in 2011.

Getting Around Longsheng

◎ On Foot

Travel on foot is the best way to explore Longhseng Rice Terraces and the ethnic villages as bus and bikes are not accessible. You can enjoy hiking from the Ancient Zhuang Village to Ping’an Zhuang Village (1.5 hours), or hike from Ping’an Village via Zhongliu, Tiantou to Dazhai Yao Village (4-5hours).

◎ By Bus

There is the regular bus which can take tourists to the main scenic areas in the surrounding places. Public transport will take you straight to the villages. You can also step off at Huanglou Yao village (also a bus terminal) and it is possible to hike in about an hour or so from there to Ping'an Village. From the car and bus parks of both villages, you must ascend on foot.

◎ By Cable Car

The cable car in Jinkeng Rice Terraces Scenice Area (Dazhai Village) offers the best way to have a bird’s eye view of the breathtaking rice terraces. It takes 18 minutes to finish the whole trip (1,580 meters).
