Because of the obvious vertical climate distribution, Lijiang day and night temperature difference is big, often above 10℃, besides its climate featuring one mountain experiencing four seasons at the same time. As a result, travelers are advised to take a variety of clothing and prepare for all eventualities. It has plenty of rainfall and it has distinct dry season and humid season. Lijiang does not experience distinct four seasons. Its temperature of winter is higher than other places of the same altitude and the average temperature of Lijiang in summer. From May to October is the rainy season of Lijiang. Lijiang rainfall is centralized in July and August. The sun radiation is strong there, which is the strongest in Yunnan. Ultraviolet radiation is strong in all four seasons of Lijiang, tourists should prepare a pair of sunglass and the sunblock.

Spring (Mar. – May)

Weather is warm and comfortable in Lijiang in spring. The temperature is from 6℃ to 20℃. At this season, we recommend travelers to wear long trousers and long-sleeve shirt. Also prepare a thick overcoat, sweater or jacket in case it gets too cold in the morning and evening. Besides, don’t forget your sunscreen.

Summer (Jun. – Aug.)

Lijiang’s summer is rainy most of the time. It is cool in the morning and evening, and hot on daytime. Temperature is from 15℃ to 26℃, and during rainy days is about 15 - 28℃. Short sleeves and shirts are adequate, and prepare a light coat in case you are outdoors later at night. If you visit the mountainous areas, you need to prepare warmer clothes. Of course, bring an umbrella to keep you from the rain and the hot sun. And Sunlight is very strong in summer, wear sun protection such as hats, sunglasses and sunscreen, and drink lots of water.

Autumn (Sep. – Nov.)

The autumn weather of Lijiang is comfortable and clear. The temperature is from 10℃ to 23℃. Rainy days are the major part of this season. The best outfit is a T-shirt, trousers, a spare coat and sweater, rain gears.

Winter (Dec. – Feb.)

Winter of Lijiang is cold. Temperature is from 0℃ to 12℃. At this period, Lijiang’s weather is mostly sunny and dry. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sunhat to protect you from the strong ultraviolet rays and prepare clothing for winter, such as a caftan, trousers, a sweater, a coat, or a spare down wear.
